Bear 650 Scrambler Build: Protection and Luggage

Handguards, sumpguard, oil cooler guard, soft panniers and the adventure top box for the Bear 650, and what each one needs to fit.

Bear 650 Scrambler Build: Protection and Luggage

The Bear 650 is the scrambler of the 650 family, and it practically asks to be taken off the tarmac. That changes what’s worth fitting. Protection comes first, then luggage that can handle dust and rain, then the seat. Everything below is listed for the Bear in Royal Enfield’s 2026 catalogue.

Protection for rough roads

Start with the parts that save you money when the bike goes down on a trail:

  • Handguards: cover your hands and the levers in a fall, and keep the wind off your fingers.
  • Headlight Grill: protects the LED headlight from stones. It’s homologated, so it’s road legal.
  • Large Sumpguard: a scrambler-style aluminium plate that protects the engine and frame rails from debris thrown up by the front tyre.
  • Oil Cooler Guard: the oil cooler fins are easy to damage with a single stone. This pressed aluminium guard stops that.

Engine guards

The Compact Engine Guards are 25 mm stainless steel and keep the bike’s lines clean. For more coverage when you’re riding trails, the Large Engine Guards wrap further around the engine. Both come in black or silver.

Luggage that suits a scrambler

For weekend trips, the Adventure Soft Panniers are roll-top bags with 14.5 litres and a 3 kg load per side, IPx6 waterproof. On the Bear they mount on the Soft Pannier Rails, which are black and stay discreet when the bags are off.

For a proper adventure setup, the aluminium Adventure Top Box holds 40 litres, enough for most adventure helmets, and carries up to 5 kg. It needs two parts to fit: the Top Box Rear Rack and the Top Box Mount Plate. The rack also works on its own as a luggage rack.

If you’d rather keep things light, the waterproof Tail Pack holds 12.5 litres and fits either on the pillion seat or on the rack.

Top box shopping list: box + rear rack + mount plate. Add the waterproof inner bag if you ride in the monsoon.

The seat and the screen

The Signature Scrambler Seat is flatter and more bench-like, with 3D net on both the rider and passenger sections, so you can move around on the seat when you stand and sit on rough ground. For wind, choose between the Tall Flyscreen for more protection or the painted Instrument Cowl for a cleaner look.

A first build we’d recommend

  • Large sumpguard and oil cooler guard
  • Compact engine guards
  • Adventure soft panniers and rails
