Super Meteor 650 Grand Touring Setup

The Super Meteor 650 is Royal Enfield’s big cruiser, and it’s at its best covering long distances two-up. Royal Enfield sells a complete touring package for it. Here’s what each part does, so you can choose what you actually need.

Seat and backrest

The simplest route is the Deluxe Touring Dual Seat and Backrest Kit. It combines the Deluxe Touring seat, the backrest and the pad in one box. The seat follows the shape of the rider more closely and gives the passenger a much larger seating area.

If you’d rather build it up in stages, the parts are also sold on their own: the Deluxe Touring Dual Seat, the Passenger Backrest Mounts and the Passenger Backrest Pad.

If your pillion just wants to sit higher and see past you, the Tall Pillion Seat adds 24 mm of foam at the rear.

Touring screen

The Touring Screen is made for the Super Meteor. It’s hard-coated and scratch resistant, and it has pressure-reduction vents that cut the buffeting behind the screen. On a big cruiser at highway speed, this is the part that makes the most difference to fatigue.

Hard luggage

The Premium Long Haul Panniers are hard-shell, water-resistant and lockable, with 35 litres in total. They open downwards from the side, so you don’t have to unload them to get something out. They mount on the Long Haul Pannier Rails, and the Long Haul Waterproof Inner Bags make them fully waterproof and double as carry bags at the hotel.

Engine guards

Royal Enfield makes two styles for the Super Meteor, both in 29 mm stainless steel:

• Airfly Evo Engine Guards: a fuller, classic cruiser shape.
• Compact Engine Guards: protects the upper engine area and keeps the bike looking slim.

Underneath, the Sumpguard protects the twin’s engine from debris thrown up by the front tyre and from scraping the edge of a kerb.

Footpegs and finishing touches

The Deluxe Rider Footpegs and Deluxe Pillion Footpegs are forged aluminium with rubber inserts that isolate vibration. Riders who mostly ride alone like the Solo Finisher, which replaces the passenger seat with a brushed cover for a single-seat look.
